SI Murray Bridge have been running the Children's Science Day event for 3 years in a row! This event is designed to excite and inspire year 3 students to think about careers in STEM areas when they grow up.
They had 283 students from 10 schools, Cambrai, Mannum, Callington, Tailem Bend, St Joseph's, MB North, Unity, Tyndale and Jervois, attend over the 3 x 1 hour sessions, which was held in the Murray Bridge Town Hall.
The "Fire and Ice" Show by SciWorld was presented by 2 young female presenters (who are both undertaking PHD's currently at the University of Adelaide). They showed many complicated scientific theories using liquid hydrogen and fire, exciting the students with the possibilities of science.
Each year the Service Club Association of South Australia conduct the Premier's Community Service Awards, which are open to all service clubs in South Australia. In 2019 SI Murray Bridge received the Award for Community Health with their Rural and Remote Mental Health project. No awards were offered in 2020 due to Covid restrictions and this year they won the Best Community Education Award.
Just another way SI Murray Bridge is working to improve the lives of women and children in their local region.
