About The Hills District Inc
Well, hello there!
Thank you for taking the time to visit our website—we are thrilled you’re here. At Soroptimist International of The Hills District, we are more than just a community group; we are a passionate collective of women dedicated to making a difference.
Our members come from diverse walks of life, united by a shared mission to advocate for crucial issues like homelessness among older women and the prevention of domestic violence. We also believe in the power of education, proudly supporting students on their journey to success.
During 2025, our Business Meetings have featured a number of educational and thought provoking presentations. Dennis Perry from Operation Life to make a presentation at our Business Meeting tonight. Initially focusing on providing food and clothing to people in Papua New Guinea living on the Baruni rubbish tip. The organisation grew in scope and impact, increasing its influence through education for children in underprivileged communities, as well as visiting the sick in hospitals, feeding the prisoners, caring for disabled and providing shelter for the abused and neglected. Sonia Casanova, CEO of Dress For Success, spoke about the organisation's mission to help unemployed women with the resources they need in their journeys toward economic mobility. she also spoke about the importance of the concept of sustainable & ethical fashion choices.
We are very much looking forward to welcoming Donna Burton - alias Donna the Astronomer - to our online July meeting. The Ladies of the Night presentation will take a look at women in astronomy through the ages. Women have made significant contributions to the development of astronomy as a science, yet their work has been restricted, unregarded and little recognized. Their solid achievements came at a considerable cost and attracted little professional recognition.
One of our club's main focus areas is raising awaremness of domestic violence issues. In May our group particiapted in the March for Change in Castle Hill, which provided an important opporuntiy to keep the conversation open in relation to the elimination of domestic violence in the local community. In addition, our club has join the Click Collab organisation that supports communities to become free of domestic and family violence by unifying local prevention efforts.
Why not take the opportunity to learn, grow, and be inspired?

Our Major Fundraising Events
At Soroptimist International of The Hills District, fundraising is a team effort that brings out the best in our members, drawing on everyone’s unique skills and experiences to make a real impact.
We host two major fundraising events each year:
- Bunnings BBQs – Twice a year, you’ll find us serving up smiles (and sausages!) at the Castle Hill Bunnings site. These BBQs are a fantastic way to connect with the local community while raising funds for our advocacy projects.
- Fashion Parades – Twice a year, we organise fabulous Fashion Parades that showcase stunning collections of ladies' fashion and accessories. These events combine fun, style, and purpose, all while supporting important causes.
These events are not only vital to our fundraising efforts, but they’re also a wonderful way for members to work together, share their talents, and strengthen our bond as a team.
