About Eastern Dist of Adelaide Inc
Eastern Districts of Adelaide includes the council areas of Mitcham, Unley, Burnside, Norwood, Kensington and Campbelltown taking in a large section of the foothills of the Mt Lofty Ranges which form the backdropto the city of Adelaide. The area covers a diversity of ages, social and cultural backgrounds. Whilst our club meets in Burnside our projects range across the area and further afield. Our club which was chartered in July 1968 currently has 17 members from various walks of life across a wide age range.
We are an active, enthusiastic group who enjoy working to achieve the goals of Soroptimist International through fundraising functions and "hands on " activities. Our particular focus is on Education and Leadership in line with Soroptimist goals. friendship and fellowship within the club and with members of other clubs is important to us.
As a member of our organisationyou will be
- part of a global network of like minded women
- serve the community locally, nationally and globally
- make new friends locally and across the world and have fun
Our club meets monthly at the Burnside Community Centre
Projects
Some of our projects include

Each year the clubholds a morning tea at the Pepper St Arts centre to acknowledge women who work in the community whose efforts go largely unrecognised. The women talk about their work as volunteers and receive certificates. We also invite potential members to attend.
Student Awards
Each year two students from Mitcham Girls High are awarded a certificate for their community involvement. The club also funds 2 places at the international Women's day breakfast for students.
Eastern Domestic Violence Service
The club raises funds and buys and packs cleaning and electrical items for the clients.
Ronald McDonald Dinners
The club prepares and cooks dinner for patients and their families at Ronald McDonald House
Little Big Bookclub
Members pack books which are distributed through local libraries to encourage literacy skills in young children.
