About Hornsby Inc.
Our Business Meetings in 2024 will be on the 1st Wednesday of each month at 7:30pm at Pennant Hills Bowling Club, 52 Yarrara Road, Pennant Hills. Some members meet for a meal beforehand at 6.30 pm at the Bistro.
Our next meeting will be on Wednesday 4th December 2024. Our Guest Speaker this month will be Catherine Knox, Chair of the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Women's Shelter to give an update on the plans for the shelter and to accept our donation of $7,000, which was the proceeds from our Spring Fling fundraiser.

STITCHING DREAMS - CONNECTIING COMMUNITIES:
SI Hornsby successfully launched their New Project for 2023 - "Stitching Dreams - Connecting Communities on Wednesday 15th March 2023 at the Salvation Army Hall in Blacktown.The launch was very well attended, with about 40 people from numerous community groups represented.
This is a joint project with Host International, https://www.hostint.org/ The Salvation Army https://www.salvationarmy.org.au/ and Afghan Women on the Move https://afghanwomenonthemove.org.au We will be partnering with them in our sewing project where we hope to help provide opportunities to Afghan women and refugees for education, economic independence, financial literacy and mutual support.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY
SI Hornsby club hosted their first International Women's Day Breakfast on 7th March 2023 at Kipling's Garage, Turramurra. The Guest speakers were Terry Maunsell, President of SI New South Wales who gave a short history about Soroptimsit International, and Nasiba Akram, Host International who spoke of her traumatis journey from Afghanistan to Australia and the work whe has been doing with other refugees. There were 50 people attending and the total funds raised for our project "Stitching Dreams' was $1125.00.
