The WAWHOF Exhibition displays portraits and the contributions of 2024 Inductees and its history. The Hall of Fame in WA was first established in 2011 in recognition of the International Women’s Day centenary to acknowledge those women who have been instrumental in the development of Western Australia. Nominations are received each year for Induction into the Hall of Fame and the Roll of Honour. Nominees are considered in the categories of Community, Business, Health, Education, The Arts, Culture, STEM (Science, Technology Engineering & Mathematics) and Sport. (www.wawomenshalloffame.com.au)
The 2024 WA WHOF inductees include Albany resident Celia Waugh. Celia Waugh was nominated by the Albany Soroptimist Club in recognition of her long service to the Surf Life Saving Association, at both a local and state level.
SI Albany are encouraging the local community especially women, and the young girls in our school and community organisations, to visit this Exhibition and be inspired to make a difference.
In 2021, the Soroptimist International women’s service organisation celebrated its 100th year worldwide. The Albany Club recently celebrated its 42nd year of providing local advocacy and action for women. Every member is committed to a world where women and girls together achieve their individual and collective potential and have an equal voice in creating strong and peaceful communities.
