"Women Make It Happen!"

Excellency Dep Governor Nusa Tenggara Barat Indonesia Jan 2019

My top priority Government Relations meeting today with Her Excellency Deputy Governor of Nusa Tenggara Barat, Dr. Ir. Hj. Sitti Rohmi Djalilah who has jurisdiction over Lombok.

I briefed on Soroptimist International, our role and priority focus areas, emphasised our UN accreditation and track record for sustainable programmes. Introduced SI Indonesia special projects and local expertise.

We discussed our mission in Lombok post-Earthquake and our plans to empower and enable women and families through water and sanitation projects, skills development programmes and income-generating projects using natural resources.

Her Excellency shared the hopes and aspirations, needs and challenges of rural women and welcomed opportunities for public awareness and education campaigns that could be jointly organised by Soroptimists and the local government to tackle poverty, social issues and disrupted education caused by child marriages.

We were joined by local women entrepreneur association members who are supportive and willing to assist us.
