Wendy's career commenced as a member of the Women's Royal Australian Naval Service as a Radio Operator. After leaving the Navy she worked at Wander (Australia) Pty Ltd, makers of Ovaltine before moving to Norvac Pty Ltd, the Mobil Fuel Distributor for Tasmania as Financial Controller and then State Manager. After 18 years with Norvac, Wendy then moved into the not-for-profit sector at The Asthma Foundation of Tasmania as Finance Manager and then General Manager. After the closure of the Foundation, she went back into the for-profit sector as Finance Officer, working for the Cooper Group. Wendy currently works at St Michael's Collegiate School and is a Fellow of Institute of Public Accountants.

Wendy became a member of Soroptimist International in Devonport in 1999 before transferring to Hobart in 2001. She has held various club positions including President, Secretary, Treasurer, and ICT. At Region level, she has been a delegate and held office as Secretary and Treasurer, attending the Conference of Clubs in Sydney (2016) and Melbourne (2018) and was an observer at the IBM in Sydney in 2014. National Representative for Australia 2020 -2022. As a member of SI Hobart, she represents the club at A Fairer World, a social justice hub that provides diversity education in schools and workplaces, through a Human Library.
